One item that stood out to me was

Ubuntu Unity 26.04 “Resolute Raccoon” is out! Even though it is not LTS officially we will support it like it is LTS release. You can download it from here. This is our first release during the absence of Rudra and Maik.

That’s different to how Ubuntu Studio 18.04 did it, but their Special thanks list of names had many people with upload rights (MOTU or better!) so it makes sense to me.

Hopefully they’ll get their known issues fixed prior to the .1 point release ISO and they can be allowed to take part in that too.

  • Ubuntu Studio 18.04 wasn’t an LTS release
  • MOTU = Master of the Universe; someone who can upload packages to the universe repository; or where flavors keep their packages

Yeah, I downloaded and installed Xubuntu 26.04 a few hours ago, still installing all the other software and apps I use every day, will be trying MATE desktop later. Gotta do some more fine-tuning.

Great to know about Ubuntu Unity, we know from our friend Mike how they’ve been struggling lately, still they managed to make it work. I’m happy for them.

I really enjoyed this video by Linux Ort:

Not going to lie I miss the good parts of GNOME, haha. But still prefering XFCE. Nice to see them forging ahead into Wayland though! :rocket:
