I’ve been working on SourceDock, an open-source desktop application for managing Linux software.
I started developing it on Zorin OS because I wanted a single place to manage installed applications, updates, and packages from APT, Flatpak, Snap and local .deb files.
It’s built with Python and GTK 3, and I’ve been focusing on keeping the interface responsive, even when different package sources take longer to load.
I’ve released Debian packages and set up automated tests on Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.04. I’m still looking for feedback on usability, bugs and compatibility with other distributions.
The source code, screenshots and installation instructions are available here:
It’s licensed under GPL-3.0, and contributions are welcome.
