Real-Time Ubuntu - Is it real?

Are there any actual users of the Ubuntu RTOS who can share examples of real-life instances of having replaced PLC logic by Ubuntu RTOS (is this where the Raspberry Pi comes in?) successfully, to the point of actually rolling out the products involved onto the market?

@ericmarceau I have not used Ubuntu RTOS, in fact, until we began this discussion I was not even aware of SUSE, Ubuntu, Red Hat or anyone else with a Linux distribution doing Real-time systems, but as I read this morning in one of the other articles, there really is a market across quite a few industries for true real-time computing.

Just because I was not aware of them doesn’t diminish any of them. I think several companies who were already customers of these distributions probably shared that they had real-time requirements so the Linux vendors responded. As we’ve been discussing, real-time involves altering the job scheduling and priority handling; that’s typically done primarily in the kernel, which typically incorporates and works directly with init managers - including sysVinit, systemD.
