Yes indeed, timeshift is more indicated for files and folders backup. For a complete backup as I said, it’s better using a partitioning image tool, such as Clonezilla.

Mat, I’m with you on this too. I can’t remember using anything other than dd (or a dd-derived tool) for either backup or distribution copying activities. I do, however use “Live USB Maker” with antiX and MX Linux. When you use “Live USB Maker” and you’re using one of these two distributions, it creates a writable USB image, and therefore it can easily be remastered. The same tool also uses dd to create images for other distributions.
