I agree with Hayden. I’m using my Thinkpad T14 Gen 3 - mine has an AMD Ryzen 7 processor; while the unit does have a fan, I rarely notice it. In any case, just typing on the keyboard, while not particularly noisy, is definitely more so than the fan. If it has even come on today, I haven’t noticed it. Also T14 models come in many generations. You may be able to get a reasonably affordable unit newer than a Gen 3 if you wish, or the Gen 3 price will be affordable unless you are very poor. I’ve always liked the Thnkpad line; I also have a very old Thinkpad X201; my brother in law got it when it was new and some version of Windows was on it. I could see why he wasn’t using it; I could barely get it started, but I figured out how to put a very small version of Linux (antiX) intended for older computers and it runs that pretty well; the X201 won’t set any speed records any more, but it has a fantastic keyboard (arguably better than my T14), which has backlit keys; these are nice for dark rooms but make for a stiffer key feel whereas the older X201 keys has longer but very solid keystrokes.
