I have reinstalled win11 on my desktop, thus getting rid of the grub problem, much to the relief of my better half who uses that machine.
Also on the laptop put in back up on two clouds Mega and Google drive.
User rclone for google drive back up, seamless I must say.
And set up a weekly back up automation.
I am wondering how I was stupid enough to stick with windows all this time.
I used Onlyoffice to replace ms office..again seamless.

Nice cleanup. Fresh install is often faster than fighting old boot entries.
Good call on rclone, especially with scheduled jobs. That combo with two providers covers both sync mistakes and provider outages.
ONLYOFFICE handles the MS formats well, especially if you stay mostly in docx/xlsx and avoid heavy macros.
Sounds like a much calmer setup now
