BlueFerry brings messages from a paired iPhone to a Linux desktop. It can receive and send SMS and iMessage, use the phone’s contacts, and optionally mirror other iPhone notifications. It talks directly to the phone over Bluetooth; there is no Mac relay, Apple login, cloud service, or subscription.
As far as I am concerned, interoperability between various forms of equipment has been impeded for decades, and though promising, once again this appears to be an effort by Apple to collect additional revenue and provide a service only to it’s own customers or potentially new customers to services that were actually designed to be open; at least they may be opening a portal between iMessage/SMS, operating over Bluetooth to provide a potential communications bridge to a “foreign” environment - to them, Linux is the foreigner.
I’ll grant that by keeping their interfaces tight and well defined, that within their own spaces they have some beautiful efforts.
We’ve had numerous open standards that could be used; let’s see if this one actually opens one of them, and at what cost?

Good one but there are problems with message syncing
like when you send one from your phone it won’t update on the app

Hopefully some determined individuals will eventually come up with an effective messaging approach that overcomes the many challenges of communicating over Bluetooth or something more effective.
