I’ve seen similar issues. It could be a quirk with how Mint Xia handles ACPI and power management on your Asus TUF AMD. Try the following:
BIOS Update: Check for a firmware update for your laptop. Manufacturers sometimes update fan control behavior in the firmware.
Fan Control Tools: Look into lm-sensors and fancontrol. Running sensors-detect might show if Linux is talking to your fan hardware. Also see: Mint forums
Kernel Options: Some users have found that tweaking kernel options (e.g. ACPI options) can calm the fan down. Check the Mint forums or distro specific documentation for your model.
Also check the temps, are they legitimately high when the fan comes on?
It’s not uncommon for fans to behave differently on Linux, especially with newer or lesser known hardware. If everything else is stable and your system isn’t overheating, you’re not in danger, but would be annoying.
