Framework Laptop 13 Pro

What do you think about the new Framework laptop 13 pro (y)2026 ?

Looks :fire: Watching vid now. Let’s hear pricing. Apple with their $600 Neo is a crazy deal, industry shifting! I wonder if anyone was able to install Linux on it.

But yeah, Framework has some good hardware. I will be keeping my ThinkPad for hopefully another 8 to 10 years like the previous laptop, so it will be a while before I have to decide.

Thanks for sharing.

fully self-serviceable laptop, spareparts on order… what’s not to like ?
It is, understandably, a bit on the pricey side. ouch!

What’s standing out to me also is:

13.5” 3:2 display with 2880x1920

This is mega for config file and code editing. It’s one of the things I called out ThinkPad for returning to the 16:10. This exceeds that! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

But $1500 is indeed pricey. Especially for a business model in which owners will be buying modules and parts from you over the lifespan of each laptop.

Pretty to look at that screen aspect ratio though:

13.5" 2880x1920 is for me a bit overkill, my eyes are not that good

@hydn @tkn the problem with hardware market that there is no mid or low tier
so all types of users and developers can afford, I respect framework laptops more then any other competitive but it too damn pricey.

Yes, and besides that: Quality comes at a price, and understandably so. :upside_down_face:

Yeah, same. Old age! I usually set my screen resolutions lower than 2k etc. So like 1920x*

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Framework lowers prices type headlines this week are overselling it:

All that changed: they swapped to a cheaper ADATA XPG Mars 970 SSD and passed the savings to existing 13 Pro pre-orders (500GB orders bumped to 1TB at a lower price).

But both the old and new drives are PCIe Gen5 x4, so it’s not much faster? Just cheaper. The base laptop price didn’t move, and Framework says a system price hike is coming “in the coming weeks” on CPU costs. :eyes:

Meh, I still think ThinkPads are better value.
