DeLinuxCo on DistroWatch

Greetings all,

I have added DeLinuxCo to DistroWatch, the link went live early today. So if any DeLinuxCo users would like to give it a vote, don’t be shy.

From what I gather, moving through the ranks in DistroWatch is a slow process at best, but we may gain a few more Manjaro/DeLinuxCo users!

Congrats! Their ranking is largely based on hits to the distro page on their website. So you are doing the right thing, sharing goes a long way.

I’m downloading it to give it a try!
Best wishes!

I also spotted DeLinuxCo on the “wait list” for DistroWatch.

I don’t promise to become a regular user since I already have several of my “regular distros” in place, but I do promise to try it out. Who knows, once in a while I like another distribution well enough to replace something else; at the very least I’ll burn a live image and boot it up.

I’ve got it going and I have to complement you because for a variety of reasons I’ve had a huge amount of problems getting into Manjaro Linux but with your build it was no problem at all and I’m using it now. VERY nice job with this!

John, although I’m a fan of Arch-based Linux systems and I currently have Endeavour OS installed, unfortunately I have not had very good luck with Manjaro Linux. Nevertheless I was happy to download your image. I was further pleased by the fact that it was the first Manjaro based image I’d downloaded over the last five years that booted and stayed up properly. Around five years ago I had a Manjaro Linux setup and it was working great for a while but then self destructed, a rare event for Linux-based distros. About a year ago I gave another one a try but I couldn’t even get it to boot, so I re downloaded, tried again, same result, so I marked it off my list.

I’m very happy to report that not only did your image boot, it ran just fine, it looks great and it was effortless, no problems at all; thanks for sharing, and I’m happy to give your work a thumbs up!

@Brian_Masinick That is a strong endorsement, I am humbled by it.

It is possible that you got caught in the ISO build issue from a few months ago, the build scripts for Manjaro had some strange behaviors that on the same system, if you booted into the live ISO, it may or may not fail, but if you rebooted the machine, then it would boot to desktop, but if you installed the system, it would work just fine every time. There was a change in the systemd/dbus that was causing the issues in the live build scripts of Manjaro. The Manjaro team was able to isolate the issue and create new build scripts.

Back to DeLinuxCo, one of the goals I have for this project is user comfort and usability. I spend much time making sure that the apps that come with and now every AppImage looks as good as it can, especially apps made with QT. I can sense in your post that I appear to be headed in the right direction in that regard.

Did you get a chance to install and uninstall some AppImages from the repo?

No, I did not physically install the software on my system, but I did try updating the software, so in that sense I did update on the USB image, but I don’t remember doing a snapshot so anything I added or altered probably isn’t on the image I downloaded; it was still a very worthwhile experience and I do have the USB available to experiment with again when I have more time to do so.

I hope others give this a try John; it’s worth doing so in my opinion.
For those who want to install a new Arch-based image, yours is a good one to try out!
