Here are some progress pics:

Yesterday morning first time taking inventory of what’s there.

Later that day, assembled just enough to power on and test.

I’ll update some more later. Add some details for anyone curious or thinking about similar setups .

The UDM Pro setup is just so simple. It’s kinda like the Apple’s OS experience. Dumbed-down a bit, but because of that, it is really difficult to mess things up. Whereas on say pfSense, I’ve screwed myself over a few times with config in the beginning.

The UDM Pro is an extremely flexible unit: Router, firewall, switch, storage, cameras (Unifi only) and Unifi controller all-in-one.

Update from yesterday:

Update from this morning:

Have about 6 more switch ports to connect over the weekend. Then label everything, create hand over documention.

Update: today the 2nd ISP should be coming to install the backup internet. Once the last 6 or so cables are into the switch I can tidy up wires and begin to label everything.

The Unifi has been pretty good. Installed July last year, no freezes or any issues. Probably a bit of overkill tbh.

They enabled CyberSecure. The Unifi UDM PRO, for a small office, was budget friendly alternative to more robust Fortinet NGFW.

Make sure you have enough air circulation, the rack will get hot.
