Just a couple of quick questions, I reviewed the ones that are listed as having a “lifetime warranty” and on the page for those routers it shows a 3 year limited warranty. Have those routers changed the warranty for a reason that you know of?
On one router you recommend an 8 port switch but not the 5 port for the same model, any reason why?

Hi @tmick, thanks as always. You are correct.

When I started this list, all the switches were in one table; then I decided to split them into managed, unmanaged, and PoE. I sorted them by price first, then by port count, and ultimately by brand, cutting and pasting the model names to the rows up and down. I also replaced a few models, so I’ll address the resulting errors. Thanks for spotting them!

Some models indeed have 5, 8, and even 16-port variants. There’s usually not much difference between them apart from the number of ports.

The list was originally meant to cover 10 network switches, but it ended up with 20+. One of the first corrections I made was changing “Below are over 10 gigabit switches” to 20. Honestly, there are many more!

This is more of a format showing the best models I’ve found from brands I’ve trusted over the years. I didn’t list the newer Chinese manufacturers, though there are many excellent options like Mokerlink, Yuanley, Nicgiga, Grandstream, and others. But they are probably best for unmanaged setups where you just need the raw hardware. I can’t recommend most of these brands yet if you’ll need to download their firmware for years to come.
