Yes I remember quite well.I had my eyes set on the blackberry 10 series.
Blackberry went down before I could get my hands on one of their QNX phones or tablets ![]()
The blackberry was too “busy” for me and never attracted me, but my older brother never let his out of his sight! ![]()
I think I had a Blackberry Bold 9000 (had to look up the model)! I remember having one right around getting out of high school and absolutely loving it. I loved the full QWERTY keyboard and the little rolly-trackball thing.
What an absolute throwback haha, I hadn’t thought about Blackberry in awhile…
I wouldn’t have purchased one for myself but it was useful for business and I could devote my own phone for personal use.
I was not referring to Germany in the first place, and nor have the cards been replaced. It’s just to log in to digital government services, using their app is the most convenient way, not the only one. However, I am worried that they’ll be pushing this more and more until it is so cumbersome to use alternative sign-in options it’s not really feasible.
If this rule, appeared on my phone, I was really fed up, most of the applications I installed were outside the Play Store (including Termux), and all other applications
Even the warning appears in F-Droid
What I do next is I will flash an old android firmware that my phone supports, or buy a phone with an older android/Linux Native support, or root the phone and make Debian 13 the Main OS via Termux Chroot
I just bought an secondhand phone and tried first lineageOS, and later GrapheneOS (old Pixel phone)
Works well for me, all apps I need (banking, social media, etc) works.
Backups (photo’s, contacts etc) I do locally on my server, so I really don’t care what Google is planning…
