Hi,
I’m Jonathan and a Linux Mint user (don’t hate me!)
I got into Linux through being introduced to the concept of open-source software through Firefox on Windows in the early 2000’s. I couldn’t believe that there were entire operating systems that you could install for free; the concept blew my mind!
I travelled through openSUSE, Ubuntu, Xubuntu and finally settled on Linux Mint (Mate DE is my preference).
Anyway today I wouldn’t use a Windows or Mac OS as they just don’t “feel” right; Linux just let’s you do what you want, how you want to do it.
Bye for now
Jonathan
Hi @J_G welcome to the forums. Thanks for joining.
Hi, I’m a retired IT person who started full time in “computers” in 1973. I’m playing around to understand enough about Linux so I can talk to my grand kids about what they are doing,

Hi @serhardt8247 . Looks like you started with computers around the same time I did - 1973; I was in high school and the math department at my school decided to offer a few introductory computer courses and took us on a short trip to see a computer center in action, and that got me interested in my career.

Hello from Washington state. I am really anxious to learn Linux. I will be focusing on the Bash Shell to get started. My background, I am a Navy Vet. My job in the Navy was working in Anti-Submarine Warfare. I have worked in Desktop Support for over 20 years. Yes I became complacent

Hi Brian thanks for your message!
Hi John I’m happy to be here, thanks for the greeting!
Henlo from Southeast Texas, US.
I am NumPyB and I have been professionally in IT as: systems admin, desktop admin, linux admin, roles primarily. I have been a linux user since 1999, slackware/mandrake were my first two distros. I honestly was first drawn to linux because I couldn’t afford windows 98 se and I just fell in love with GNU.
Hi, I am Victor. My interest in all Linux began after I bought a steam deck. Then I began using CachyOS as my daily driver, and came across hyprland. Outside of gaming, I enjoying learning about the OS, and seeing what the ricing community creates. I just graduated with my bachelors and I’d like to learn from and contribute to a community of fellow Linux user as I begin my career.
