My name is John, I am retired and live in ROCHESTER,NY. The fact that I am trying to get away from Microsoft and Google domination in which if you don’t do what we want, we will make it hard for you. If you download a security app, we will shut off features That you might want Eventually. I am active in Radio and amateur radio and also in the church i attend.

I have a question Hayden. Do we have any ladies in the membership? We had a couple of good Linux ladies on Ubuntu MATE Forum. I will admit Lady Linux users are rare, not sure where you would even find them.

Hello, this is Claudio from Rio, Brazil! I started learning computer science this year. What drove me to that was working as a physician and having to deal with abysmal UX in all our electronic health records. I once met a neurologist who learned Delphi by himself in the 90s. He coded the only EHR that made sense from a user standpoint. I thought that if someone in the 90s got to do that with only a book, I’d be able to learn and make a difference as well.
I started with a 100% fron-end mentality (I didn’t even knew that this was colled front-end then), but now I’m more into data analysis and health record data parameters (FHIR, openEHR). I’m still with my original goal in mind, but I’ve realised there is a lot to learn, and it has been a fun journey.
I’ve just installed Zorin (yesterday), and I’m looking forward to learn more about Linux and CS.

I can tell that you have used the Atari at home before I actually bought my first home unit, but I was able to occasionally bring either workstations or terminals home, and I’d been doing that before 1987; it was 1979 when I graduated from Michigan Tech and my first job was with General Motors - 1979-1985, then Digital Equipment Corporation from 1985-1998, then became a contract software tester and worked for several companies, beginning with Fidelity Investments (I worked for them twice: 1998-1999, and 2005-2008. Slackware was my first distribution (1995) and then I used quite a few since then, including Red Hat, Caldera Open Linux, Mandrake, and Libranet as I branched out and at least 100 distributions, maybe more, since then. I’ve settled with antiX Linux as my daily driver, but I still have Slackware, MX Linux, Endeavour OS along with two antiX versions that I have on my primary laptop; I typically have around 4 laptops of various ages so I can experiment and have backup units in case of failure.

If you do, don’t skip on hydration nor on sunblock cream. I’m not a big Carnaval guy myself, but I’ve had the fair share of friends who’d be to the point of knowing all their favourite parties mapped and scheduled.

Hi, I’m Laurence and located in Scotland. Just got so tired of Microsoft, won’t go into details but had enough. It’s been over 10 years since I used Linux, but I’m going to switch back. I’ll need dual boot for a while though.
