Welcome, I dual booted for a while too, then I figured out the only time I went on Windows was to update Windows, Windows anti virus and Windows anti spy/adware. That is when I wiped Windoze completely. Unless you have a program that is only ported to Windoze, you won’t need Windoze.

Hi everyone, new here. Installed Zorin five days ago, very new to Linux, but learning as I go. Was (is) quite the learning curve with this old i5 pc of mine (was still running on Windows 7). Thought I’d say hi, might be brave enough to ask a stupid question from time to time

Cheers Brian, I appreciate that so much. I was always told years back when I mentioned to mates into computers that I was going to have a look see at Linux that they weren’t a very friendly bunch in fact consensus was that Linux users were an elitist group of snobs. Very happy to say that I have not found that to be the case except for rare examples. Only thing I expect might hold me back somewhat is my age and failing mem- ah more- Ah yeah Memory, That’s it my failing wats er name yeah yeah memory damn it.
Anyhow with all you learned Linux users here to help me, don’t think I can go wrong if I ask questions politely and in a way that can be understood.
Hope nobody minds if this old fart tries to have a bit of fun with you all from time to time to hide my shyness and ignorance about Linux in general?

You can rest assured that you are not the oldest member here! I’ll be 71 in November. 
One lesson I’ve learned in life if that if everyone is saying the same thing, that is possibly an indicator of “mob mentality”, and the only way to be sure that their possibly blindered view is truly correct, you need to do your own “digging” as due diligence to make an truly informed decision, by verifying facts yourself. Often, the majority view is correct … but never always!
After a few instances of discovering that the majority got it wrong, however rare that might be, your outlook on subsequent issues, on the whole, changes drastically … from the standpoint of how you approach a situation that needs your vested stance (i.e. choosing an OS, choosing a Distro, choosing a Desktop Manager, choosing a Browser, choosing who to vote for in the next election … you get the idea). You want to make sure that others aren’t feeding you a line of bull, intentionally or not!
About your printer, for any Linux, you need to install CUPS:

(Arch Wiki is always good for possible additional in-depth info that goes beyond usual “surface” guidance)
Beyond that, if you share

I am a casual user. I don’t hardly ever use the command line. I often don’t understand some of the discussions here. I have learned a lot in forums. Yet in about twenty years of using Linux I have always been treated in forums with friendliness and respect. Like Eric I am also working my way to 71. Welcome and quit worrying.

Hey all just trying to explore Linux for now. been interested in it for a while but all these AI stuff makes it so much easier to learn. Trying to not use them as much as a crutch as it takes the thinking out of the equation though.
