A cool bass clef for musician fellows

Hey, Eugene! Nice work!

Using the concepts from each of the bottom two, have you considered using a background something like

then show a flying-saucer (a.k.a MATE logo of 2nd wallpaper) with “twinkle” trail of flight path, and spotlight projecting onto the foreground, hi-lighting the MATE logo!

It may be asking a lot, but is that something that would stimulate your creative juices?

If not a single image of the MATE logo projected onto the ground, alternatively, what about the “beam” transporting little green men (2-3, heads replaced by MATE logo) to the ground!

Is that a fantasy visual that you might want to entertain creating?

Thank you for your ideas, Eric!

I’m afraid I’m not in the mood for more blender work right now.

It looks a lot like Windoze XP default wallpaper just with trees.

I still got a nice variation on that one in my archive:

I’ve gone to the dark side lol. New wallpaper:

Fresh system reinstall this morning. No issues but takes the same time as runnning:

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade -y

at least when you have not updated in a while.

Now use darkreader.org globally and everything else is dark mode.

The setup is Kali Linux XFCE4 (their default). Once booted in I just ran:

sudo apt install kali-desktop-i3

That also pulls in the i3-dotfiles which include kali-i3’s dotfiles without the iso (prefer xfce4 vanilla install base). Details:

So used his dotfiles as a base saved hours of config time. Benifit of XFCE4 underneath is being able to use xfce used for power management (xfce4-power-manager and xfce4-screensaver), the lock screen, thunar, thunar-volman, mousepad, ristretto, parole, catfish, xfce4-clipman (actually using greenclip) and dunst (xfce4-notifyd disabled to many after resuming from suspend) for transparent notifications in the top panel, etc.

So a bit of a hybrid xfce-i3wm :penguin:

I was inspired by @hydn to also try out a monospace font for my interface (namely JetBrains Mono). Also changed my wallpaper to something a bit darker

Beautiful! Sometimes less is MORE.

Funny enough I changed my wallpaper also. It’s blue now as well, like yours, not as dark but still um using dark mode globally. But same Darth Vader based wallpaper. Will post it later when I get back. I found it difficult to see my window borders and gaps when background was near black.

My daughter did this drawing of Boromir for my birthday, so I’ve been using it ever since. As you’ll notice, I’m not into icons or screen clutter.

Did I mention that my icon is something my son drew a few years ago. Ed Grimley told me, ‘your kids are pretty good artists, I must say.’

This one definitely evokes the old Rurouni Kenshin series of anime that a friend introduced me to about 25 years ago, and I “gobbled those up” in short order, because of the theme that I derived from it:

  • violence is to be avoided at ALL cost

  • if the act of violence is initiated against you, the only sane response is to counter … without hesitation … with violence that is so devastating … and so precise … that the stimulus for further violence is, quite literally, purged!

NOTE: That words “stimulus” and “purged” are key here. There is no need to assume equality of those references with “obliteration to kingdom come!” It is more aligned with “surgical precision in removing a cancer”!

Thanks, another daughter did this one of Captain Stottlemeyer from the TV show Monk.

A third daughter did this. All of them have many more drawings that are just as high quality. I’m surprised none of them got into computer animation.

I told her she should draw celebrities and charge $$$ for them, but she does it for fun not money. Silly child. Sixteen years ago my oldest son did a paint adventure called the Elves of Amanereli that was very popular, and I find it amazing that the first few drawings were done using the paint program. Here’s a sample:

Some more wallpaper drawings my daughters did.

The lighting is excellent on the Boromir piece. Shows a good understanding of shadows.
