Onebox preview images do not render

Here, they render in the previewer, but not when baked:

However, they do at upstream’s instance:

Thanks for the report! Turns out Discourse had recorded a failed download for those speedtest images at some point and never retried, so every rebake stripped them.

Cleared those records and rebaked, they show now.

@hydn, thanks. They were HTTP 429’d, probably. Discourse shouldn’t require manual intervention for the re-generation process, ideally, although I understand the aversion to DOS’ing someone.

Regardless, because I am unable to confirm whether it would eventually re-attempt later, I’ve merely requested that the user be informed of this failure:

As usual, I’d like for the solution plugin to be enabled here, so that I can mark your comment as the solution to this problem.

Nice catch on both sides. That explains why it only broke after baking. The composer preview pulls the image live, but the baked post uses the copy Discourse saved on the server, and if that download failed once it just stays failed.

A 429 from speedtest.net makes sense too. They’re pretty aggressive about rate limiting, and if a few posts with speedtest links got baked around the same time, the server would have hit them in a burst.

Plus one on the meta request. Even a small “image couldn’t be downloaded” note in the post history would have saved some head scratching here. And plus one on the Solved plugin too, it’d make threads like this a lot easier to find later.

Thanks Roke. Solved is now enabled for Site Help.
