Mate 1.30 development?

While reading the Fedora 45 thread I came across this snippet:

Fedora MATE-Compiz Spin (MATE 1.28.x): MATE 1.28 maintenance releases remain the most likely option unless MATE 1.30 reaches stable status before Fedora 45 freezes.

The Mate website hasn’t been updated since the release of 1.28 and the Github page does show a 1.29 release back in May though it doesn’t appear to be a major step above 1.28.2.

Curious if anyone out there has any insight on development of a 1.30 release.

Has to do with the fact that Martin has not done a complete handover of “control” of various account and web sites associated with Ubuntu MATE.

Whether that control should be

  • full hand-over (i.e. full ceding of control),       or
  • shared control

I don’t know. Transition pains!
