Hello, Gerry here. Loaded linux mint on my old computer but did not get internet. So, How di get internet back onto my old computer?

Owww…drat!..My crystal ball is out of batteries.

But you know what ?
Run next commands:
sudo dmidecode -t system
hwinfo --network
uname -a
lsb_release -a

Post the output here (copy paste), select the whole texblock and use the </> symbol in the edit window to make it a bit easier readable.

The more useful info you provide, the sooner it can be solved

They are purging data supporting old harware from the common hardware database. Hopefully, yours is not in that group. However, to be sure, please share the output of the following command:

inxi -Fxxx

Also, when you boot Linux from the Live ISO image, not your installed image, do you get access to the network?

old computer model? install Mint using a wired cable rj45, this always gets internet. After install, do all the updates it recommends, it will try to identify the wifi chip and Control Panel > Driver Manager will suggest a driver. If not, you have to search the Internet for drivers. inxi -Nxx will tell you the networking details.

Example: this laptop T420 has wired and Intel 6205

Network:
  Device-1: Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network vendor: Lenovo ThinkPad T520
    driver: e1000e v: kernel port: 6080 bus-ID: 00:19.0 chip-ID: 8086:1502
  Device-2: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 [Taylor Peak] driver: iwlwifi
