If you could design your own Linux distro… :penguin:

Just a fun question for everyone:

If you could create your own Linux distro with no limitations, what would you make?

It can be serious, weird, practical, completely unnecessary, or just something you’d love to try.

A few things to imagine:

  • What would you call it?
  • What would it be designed for?
  • What desktop environment or window manager would you use?
  • What would you keep or remove from a typical Linux installation?
  • Would it target old hardware, gaming, servers, privacy, beginners, or something completely different?
  • And what would be the one feature that makes people say: “Why does this actually exist?” :joy:

No need for a real project or technical details. Just imagination.

I’m curious what everyone would come up with. :penguin:

it will be fully bit packed distribution that only work on my own machine
It won’t include any gui nor systemd or standard kernel build.

That sounds like an awesome experiment :joy:

A fully bit-packed distro built specifically for one machine, with no GUI, no systemd, and a custom kernel build sounds less like a general-purpose distro and more like a tiny personal operating system.

I actually love the idea of removing everything you don’t need and seeing how far you can push it.

What kind of machine are you planning to build it for? :eyes:
