Welcome! Introduce yourself

Not easy to find a Linux distro that’s not pretty solid in its own ways; even Arch, as oft as it breaks (and oft doth it break), is for some of us exactly the distro that fits. I’ll still insist, though, that for the most adventurous of us, Gentoo and NixOS are the best two. Most aren’t schism-brained (like I am) enough to run a couple distros at once. I’ve just always been a “more-than-one-favorite” sort, but I’ll still gladly jump into a Linux Mint or Arch Linux system if needed. I just recently set up Linux Mint on a new Lenovo Yoga for my mother, who wants nothing to do with Microsoft now that Copilot permeates every aspect of their software. :grimacing:

Haha yes true. While typing I was tempted to say “two non-beginner distros”. But with Linux just about every distro is for beginners if you are up for it.

You said it better!

Welcome to the Community!

I am from Ottawa, Canada, and just curious …

Would you be aware of any home builders in Norway that focus on micro-homes for cold climates, building those in modular design, such that they can be mass-produced to create communities for housing seniors or homeless people?

Any actual projects that you can think of that you could point me to?

Hello to all I’m retired and used to mess with things like this with my friends but now most of them are gone do to age and other things and my kids still ask me about things and I would like to know what to say to them when they ask if you know what I mean. I have been using Linux for a long time myself and have always liked it and some of them are asking me about it and I loaded it up on my grand kids and they have used it for a long time and still does and has never had any trouble with it at all, now some of the rest of them are asking so I will be setting them up are hop to soon so this is maybe the place for me to pick up on things they ask.

Hey everyone! I’m a data engineer and longtime Linux enthusiast, currently running Nobara full time after years of dual-booting Windows and distro hopping. Outside of tech, I’m also into gaming, history, literature… Always happy to chat about anything from desktop environments to the Roman Empire. Glad to be here!
