Saw this teaser Tweet from @Phoronix (Michael Larabel, the guy on the left, who runs the site) standing next to Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s CEO (on the right). With that vague message and no specifics.
I wish nvidia would fix linux drivers from nvidia-driver-470 on, not everyone has the latest gpu. I have basic gpus: GT 640, GTX 960, GTX 1080. If they can fix their drivers so that they compile w/o errors every time I get a new kernel, that would be nice.
Probably this is just classic hype-building. ![]()
I have one system with a GTX 1660 Super 6GB and another with a GTX 1050. I have to regularly rebuild the dkms modules after a kernel or driver update. (I keep intending to see why they fall during the update but haven’t yet done this.) After the upgrade, though it claims success, I can check /use/lib/modules/<kernel>/updates/dkms and they’re always still compressed. This happens regularly enough, I wrote a script to manage it.
Maybe that is what you’re experiencing?
And maybe one day I’ll actually dig in, find what is happening, and fix it so I can retire the script. ![]()
