I Built Gamma Linux to Give Old PCs Another Life
Gamma Linux 2.7.x is being hammered on truly ancient hardware, uncovering DNS quirks on some boxes, a GPT-on-legacy-BIOS trap in Calamares, and showing that with a few firmware and NTP tweaks an EeePC with 1 GB RAM can play high bitrate H.264 smoothly and feel worth keeping. -
A TUI music player written in Go
@goatherd is refactoring the Goat player into small Go packages with per-file tests, teasing a newviewpackage that cleanly owns window drawing and showing off test windows that stream text from “The Go Programming Language” preface.
Desktops, Rices & Setups
- @tkn shared a Gamma Linux LEGACY i386 neofetch on ultra-low-spec hardware, with a lean desktop tuned to stay under 750 MB RAM.
- @tkn also showed an Asus EeePC running Gamma Linux, complete with lightweight panel tweaks and a wallpaper that makes the tiny screen feel roomy rather than cramped.
If something you are building or theming belongs here, drop it into Showcase or the screenshots threads so everyone can poke at it before next Saturday.
