Offered Boot Managers

Anyone here using or tried Limine?

I’d never heard of it until earlier this week when I was installing CachyOS and noticed it offered as a bootloader option.

Curious if anyone runs it, how it compares to GRUB or systemd-boot, and whether it’s worth a closer look?

I remember LILO all to well, I will be sticking with GRUB for my bootloader until a lot of people have tried out new ones and found them foolproof.

GRUB today is in the position LILO was in about 25 years ago. It was the original bootloader that GRUB eventually replaced. It will be interesting to see how things in this space unfolds and if there’s another shift as somepoint that leaves behind that cliff in release logs.

I’ve heard of it week ago but refused to install because it only reads the configs from FAT fs, & i’ve 4 primary partition on my MBR.

Interesting. I did try Limine, seems fine but I really was not feeling CachyOS, this is the second time I’ve tried it. I would quicker just install Arch using the Arch installer.

But I don’t think GRUB is going anywhere soon.
