It’s not a DE or WM. It’s just a shell, a visual layer that sits on top of Wayland:
I’m using Noctalia-shell in pair with Niri as a “replacement” for Gnome. Noctalia is well made, complete and beautiful.
The only regrets on this new setup is that:
- To digit in the Niri overview mode doesn’t search for things, as my muscolar memory requires, but I need to open the Noctalia app launcher apart
- Have a coherent environment is more difficut than with a DE, but that is not a fault of Noctalia in particular.
Which VM have you tried with Noctalia? Which is the best companion for it?
