Exciting news!
Firstly, a special welcome to the new members from the Ubuntu-Mate community. Happy to have you join us.

As a result, (since members have also previously repeatly requested distro-specific categories) we’ve used this opportunity to add a few dedicated categories for the most active distros in our community and also MATE Desktop:
Arch Linux Debian Fedora/RHEL MATE Desktop and Ubuntu.
Each one comes with its own set of distro-specific tags to make finding and filtering topics a lot easier. You must join a related group to see distro/DE specific tags.
Other DE’s will simply use tags since most already have forums, I’ve added tags: gnome, kde, xfce, i3wm and lxqt. So in the event support is related to those, one can add the tag within the distro category they are on. Or visit the specific DE support forum:
- i3/i3 · Discussions · GitHub
- lxqt/lxqt · Discussions · GitHub
- and now hopefully MATE Desktop - LinuxCommunity.io
Think Pacman and AUR for Arch, apt and dpkg for Debian, dnf and SELinux for Fedora/RHEL, snap and PPA for Ubuntu, and Caja and Pluma for MATE Desktop. A few more to come.
If you’ve been posting distro-related topics in General Discussions or Linux Support, the new categories are ready and waiting for you.
We’ll also be gradually moving relevant existing topics into their new homes over time.
