Is it possible to contribute my blog articles on this site?

New member. Posting short content here on the sight is straightforward - but can I contribute my own blog articles? Maybe there are only certain members who submit articles? If I can contribute, how and where do I post?
Thanks.

Where’s Hayden when you need him LOL it is possible to get your articles posted to the blog but Hayden did it for me. Maybe PM him?

I’m not sure I want special treatment - just wondering how it worked - thanks.

Hi @benslinux Thanks for reaching out on becoming more involved.

@tmick lol. catching up now.

Yes, there are two ways you can do this:

  1. For existing blog posts, you can share them in the blog articles category. However, similar to say Reddit, self-promotion isn’t generally allowed if it’s reposting to a personal blog or too frequent. However, you write for 3rd party websites, so that’s fine. Of course, we would rather not log in to the forums and see the last 5 new topics are blog posts only, haha. So, space them out like 1 or 2 a week at most.

  2. When a community member posts a review, or shares their home labs, or any other content rich post that fits the “Linux blog” niche, I will often publish it to the blog’s front page. This way, more readers (including newsletter subscribers) can find/read it. For example @tmick post: My Search for a new Desktop environment

Since you are a professional content writer, if you would like to publish any exclusive Linux articles to linuxblog.io directly. Just send me a DM, I can set that up. The only restriction to this is that external links are vetted. Like many other online blogs, there are daily email requests for guest posts, but only if they are allowed to include certain external spam links.

So over the years, guest posts have been limited to either serious sponsors or writers who want to increase their reach and have avoided the “but we need to include links” offers.

Oh, also, the showcase category can be used for sharing scripts, code, projects, personal websites, etc. However, these posts are rarely shared to the blog unless it fits the Linux niche closely.

I hope this helps and is flexible as far as options available!

Thanks for your kind reply - I understand completely and will keep all of this in mind.

Apologies @all for the flood of blog posts on the front page. I had to repair all posts which had incorrect values during original publishing. The only efficient way to do so was via command line bulk-publish (the alternative was manually 250+ times, yikes!)

As a result, the command edited all existing posts and those with zero replies got bumped to the top.

This should be a one-off issue. Apologies!

It’s still ongoing (should be finished in ~ 5 mins):

Update: I believe I solved this by excluding the category. I will revert that setting in ~ a month. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes in finding your active topics.
