Installing Mint on and ACER Spin laptop

While installing Mint I will get the following message: Unable to install "Grub in dev/mmcblk’ failed. I i go back and install windows it will do it correctly. Secure boot is disabled.

That error usually comes down to how GRUB is being installed on eMMC (mmcblk). So Make sure you booted the USB in UEFI mode, not legacy. Also check that there’s an EFI partition (FAT32, mounted at /boot/efi).

In the installer, try setting the bootloader target to the whole disk like /dev/mmcblk0 instead of a partition.

If Windows installs fine, it’s likely already using UEFI, so Mint should match that.

eMMC systems can be a bit picky but it’s usually something small.
