How to clone Ubuntu

Greetings )

I just purchased second PC and i want to make two identical systems (so i can conveniently work on both).

First is Asus Tuf A16, second is GEEKOM A6 Mini PC

Is there any way to achieve this?

System Ubuntu 25.10

Of course there are many ways.
You can clone the whole HDD to another with

or you take images of your drive with the above ones or with dd

I have 1 Tb SSD (Nvme)

Will i need to do something after i take image? How to write it? Will it just start? Or i will have to adjust UUIDs etc?

+1 @toadie

also see a very basic guide here on using it: Clonezilla for cloning drives

Yes, in most cases it is not a problem to run an existing Linux installation on different hardware.

You can install the new disk in the current system and make a 1:1 clone of the old disk while the system is running.

So do I need to change machine-id after this?

To do so, I need to disassemble casing. This will void warranty. Stupid rules :frowning:

What do you mean with machine-id?

You can use this tutorial to create an image https://slimbook.com/en/blog/guides-2/post/restore-your-system-image-using-rescuezilla-395

Most people have had zero issues cloning Ubuntu with Clonezilla or Rescuezilla. Just image the old SSD and write it to the new one. UUIDs, machine-ID, and drivers usually sort themselves out.

Even moving the cloned drive to totally different hardware works fine. If you clone from a live USB, the new drive shows up cleanly, and you don’t need to fix anything unless GRUB was installed oddly.

Thanks! Clonezilla helped. I found it more helpful than rescuezilla. But it seems that second is just GUI
