This keeps popping up every few days. It only lasts a second or two and then goes away. My laptop is a HP 650G.
Is this legit? If it is would you update the firmware or not? I am reluctant to do that.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I would install the update. As @Norm24 stated, it is legit. Occasionally I also got such a firmware update and installed it right away.
Thanks, it seemed to be from HP or Ubuntu but I wasn’t sure if it was safe. I will update the next time it shows up.
I installed it and the machine refused to boot. I received a message saying ‘Kernel Panic’ displayed on a purple screen. I had to revert to the exising firmware to get things going again!
The update opened the HP UEFI in the bios on screen, I updated and rebooted with no problems. Thanks guys.
Didn’t think that there could be issues with the update. May be you should leave out this update then.
My thought too.
Best regards,
David
It is why I asked. I had a router I updated the firmware and it was toast after the update.
