Browser link to html - not opening default browser after update

Thanks Pavlos

It seems to work !!!

I did a reboot and before anything else I went to the Properties of the desktop link and now it DOES show FF under the open with tab (when it wasn’t before). And I tried three FF links (without going by opening FF first or going through bookmarks) and the relevant pages did open with FF.

:slightly_smiling_face:

I was all OK 'til some recent update… don’t know why.

The change Pavlos suggested had no impact on Slack and it did solve the sudden html link weird behaviour.
p.s. I am using Slack for teamwork, since the chat tool provide for creating separate channels for each distinct files/topic. We didn’t find any equivalent as of yet.

for some unknown reason it prepended firefox_ to existing lines.

Your binary should be just firefox, not firefox_firefox

For some reason it reverted to firefox_firefox automatically, without me doing anything…

something happened, maybe an update, I don’t know. I don’t use slack.

Take a look at the permissions, ls -al .config/mimeapps.list

stat .config/mimeapps.list should say when the file was last accessed/modified.

There is an auditd daemon you can install to find out WHO modifies the file.

quick fix: edit the file again as described in post #19.
