My wife had an apple in the wooden case a friend (relative of a US senator) had given her to get started on computers before I met her. She really wishes now she had kept that box.

Instead she got rid of it for a NEW GATEWAY Win 95 computer.

It was in between a typewriter and a computer.
They called it a wordprocessor at the time.
This model even predates WP 5.1 as far as I can remember.

they had a relatively short lifespan as a tool, but I looked it up, they were around longer than I thought.

The model that you posted was a Brother LW-1 that went in 1989 on the market.
Oh, I just remember something else:
I now remember that it was a computer with a build in printer. A friend of mine had one with MS-DOS 3.3(?) installed. It was this model or a model close to it.
I remember because it was the first time for me encountering MS-DOS.
I only knew QNX, UNIX, PrimeOS and CP/M at the time.
btw. it was still called a wordprocessor then.
