@ricky89 fully agree with you. In my opinion, snaps are nothing more than proprietary software
@andreas and @ricky89 Excellent debate on the pros and cons of Snaps.
I too like my software installed in the simplest form and native. I understand there might be a risk of a library conflict but so far that hasnāt affected me.
Whether something is proprietary or not is of course not an opinion, that is something that can be assessed rather factually
and I would like to raise the fact that snapd is open source (and for open source programs, their snap packaging is thus likely also open source), itās just that the Snap Store is not. I also disagree with this and I strongly dislike it, but I just wanted to address this point.
Iāve used all of them. Linux Mint is the only one I donāt have currently installed somewhere.
I looked again and I donāt remember ever using POP; Been a long time since Iāve used Mint or Ubuntu but I have tried them.
Iāve built systems with Arch and even Gentoo (a very long time ago). Endeavour OS has been a good Arch derivative for me and Iāve had a few months with Cachy OS too.
Mostly I have been using moderate distribution choices and testing one other alternative at a time.
