My desktop today

Desktop here is the same, MATE Desktop on top of Linux Mint 22.3 XFCE Edition. Same background. But I wanted to showcase how it looks when I plug in my guitar.

This is Guitarix, and it sounds pretty welll as long as your guitar has got good pickups.

Playing some (very) old Metallica tunes here

I use a standard MATE top panel and Plank at the bottom. I use both the Apps/Places/System menus and the Brisk menu for easy keyboard access. Pretty minimal otherwise.

I have a folder full of cool pics that I’ve gathered over the years, and I change my wallpaper every so often.

My current MATE desktop on a still rocking 2011 27" iMac. With compiz of course, and minimal animations. No other DE make this system feel refined and modern with modern software, so I hope it’s not going to be dismantled.

Really love your avatar. It’s the first thing I saw in the topic list:

I said mentally, ā€œlook Netscape has joined us!ā€. (Such good memories until they died) So, clicked the topic and found @Neffscape instead. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Very creative! Brought a smile ha! Thanks for that and welcome to the forums. Your desktop looks great and of course better in many ways than macOS.

Lol, my avatar has a long history, and it’s actually related to my nickname IRL (people call me Neff). So when I chose the name of my tech blog in the 2010s I decided to go with ā€œNeffscapeā€, and I chose an avatar that sticked to these days  . About the screenshot: I don’t usually mimic other OS when I’m using linux, but this machine is an old Mac, and I wanted to preserve its soul… It is actually much better than MacOS in windows management and speed thanks the old good compiz. Too bad it isn’t developed anymore.
