Metadata Cleaner getting abandoned caught a lot of people, so you’re not alone. If you want something with a GUI, ExifCleaner is probably the closest replacement at the moment and works well on Pop!_OS. It focuses on doing one thing and staying out of the way, which is similar to what Metadata Cleaner used to be good at.
One other thing worth mentioning is that for common workflows you may not need a dedicated tool at all. LibreOffice can export PDFs without metadata if you disable it during export, and many image editors and viewers strip metadata automatically when you re export or have a toggle for it.
At this level, a few anti-spam limits are enforced automatically, including restrictions around links. That’s why your links appear as plain text or don’t behave like clickable links yet.
Looking at your profile, this matches what we’re seeing. Once a member gains a bit more activity, things like:
reading topics/posts
participating and spending a little time on the forum
…then the forum automatically promotes the account to Trust Level 1, and link restrictions are lifted without any manual action needed. For most users, this happens on the same day.
This isn’t something set per user or done by moderators. It’s part of Discourse’s built-in spam prevention system and applies equally to everyone when they first join.
