A while back we had a discussion on HEIF/HEIC and what programs supported the formats. Here is a tutorial for adding those formats to Ubuntu.

I distinctly remember that thread. I know in that particular thread the OP was asking how to get HEIF/HEIC support for 24.04.

I remember advising the OP to add either the UbuntuHandbook libheif ppa or the "strutur AG" team ppa. I would imagine that would also work for 26.04 but I guess if all that is required is to install a missing plugin then there’s no need to add the ppa in 26.04.
