A Pentium 4 running Ubuntu 11.04 + GNOME 2 first introduced me to “Applications, Places, System”. I didn’t mind Unity, but I missed that first aesthetic. Once Ubuntu MATE 15.04 became an official flavour, I made the switch.

These days, I’ve moved on to Arch Linux with KDE & Qt for a familiar dual panel, traditional desktop experience that works for me.
