Hi Rogue, Welcome to the Community!

Are you looking to submit your own robotic boxer for the recently promoted “olympics” … or are you looking to work on some “instruments” that are desperately needed, such as

  • automated forestry rovers for species-specific mass re-planting

  • automated forestry rovers for grass-fire control/extinguishing,

  • automated forestry rovers for fire-break tree-cutters/harvester,

  • automated pipeline rovers for sewer clearing and junk extraction,

  • automated pipeline rovers for maintenance inspection of Natural Gas Pipelines,

  • automated ship bilge maintenance on large oil tankers or freight shippers?

The list of “unattended” tasks (pun intended) is huge!

Anyhow, for the experimenting, there is a Maker-oriented magazine out there, called Make, and they offer a lot of goodies (old issues and books) to help you along, from a generic standpoint. There are also these fora:

If you have specific types of hardware or software that you are interested, share your needs/questions/problems and there are bound to be people who can point you in a useful direction, or even provide a very pointed and useful solution. You never know until you ask!

Hi All.

Im a newbie to Linux systems. Linux mint saved my computer from the terror of Windows. Currently using Linux Mint will be looking to look into Zorin later for my families pc’s.
All learning in the mean time looking to incorporate Linux systems in my business.
Any recommended books on Linux for an absolute beginner?
Otherwise thanks to all.

Linux Mint – I’ve switched back to Windows for the time being due to a change in hardware, but I’m on the lookout again for the most stable version. As for wallpapers, I’ll post something soon. I’ve been away for a bit

Hi Keith! A warm welcome from a Leeds lover (the city not just the footy).

Lucky you, living in Leeds. I am languishing down south in Reading, Berks (a county or an adjective?).

I am pretty settled on Arch-based Linux distros having tried a huge number of alternatives over the years, starting from about 1990, but with a bit of exposure before that.

A perfect description of how I feel about Linux compared with Windoze.

Welcome @5iber !! :star_struck:

In the Linux vernacular that would be spawn a task. (I think it’s also more accurate as a description.)
